Antique Knowles Taylor Knowles Small Bowl - Pink Carnation Flowers - Floral Semi Vitreous VBI Open Sugar Bowl
{HISTORY}
Sometime between the years 1858 and 1934, this petite floral bowl was made in East Liverpool, Ohio by the pottery Knowles, Taylor & Knowles, who made both hotelware and private collection pieces for home entertaining. With it's deep bowl shape, similar to our modern day cereal bowls, it most likely was either the smallest size in a set of antique mixing bowls or it was an open sugar bowl ideal for doling out sweetener by the spoonful. Either way, with its pink and white carnation flowers, delicate holly leaves and gold rim, it is a beauty in both dish history and craftsmanship.
Rare in pattern, Knowles Taylor Knowles pieces are hard to find in complete sets, which makes them fun to collect as mix and match pieces. This bowl looks especially pretty with antique ironstone and with vintage dishes in shades of pink and green.
