In 1969, if you were throwing a party, going to a party, or surprising the one you love with something they would love, chances are this deck of novelty playing cards was in the mix. Debuting in late spring 1969, just in time for Mother's Day, this collection of French Recipe cards created by Golden Press was really two gifts in one - a functional deck of 52 playing cards and 52 classic French recipes complete with illustrations.

With a colorful, 1960s mod design on the back and a variety of interesting recipes that take you through brunch, lunch, dinner, and dessert, these cards put a whole new creative spin on family fun time and culinary inspiration. Whether you are gambling for who makes dinner,  introducing new foods and cooking techniques to the kiddos or enjoying an at-home date night for two complete with wine and a romantic dinner, these cards add a bit of whimsy to daily cooking. 

Go fish, single solitaire, poker, rummy, 500... all the favorite one-deck card games can be played with this deck as they contain all suits and include all the aces, jacks, queens and kings to make game playing feverish and festive. The jumbo size makes it easy for all ages to hold as well as read the ingredient list and cooking instructions. 

However you like to play - whether the winning card determines the day's meal, the loser has to cook, or the champion gets to wow everyone with their new vintage French recipe and their excellent cooking skills, the possibilities for fun in the kitchen are endless. {CONDITION}

In lovely vintage condition. All the playing cards are free of rips, tears, spots, and stains. There is slight tanning to the cards due to age. The 7 of Hearts contains a smudge of extra ink that was imprinted from the card in front of it. The card box is completely intact but does contain some fading and edgewear on the sides and top flap. Each playing card measures 7" inches (length) x 5" inches (width). The box measures 7.25" inches (length) x 5.25" inches (width) x .75" inches (thickness). The deck and box together way 13 oz.
