{HISTORY}

The Pantone color of 2024 is a warm, glowing shade called Peach Fuzz. Pantone describes this color as tender and velvety, like the sweetly shaded skin of a ripe peach plucked fresh from the orchard. 

Feminine and delicate, this trendy Peach fuzz color also happens to be the exact shade of these beautiful French Limoges porcelain dinner plates made by Theodore Haviland.  Featuring swags of pink and peach roses gathered at the corner sections of each scalloped edge flagged by gold detailing, these dinner plates are both a statement piece and a lovely neutral that blends well with many other antique and vintage patterns. 

Made in Limoges, France in the early 1900s, they contain all the hallmarks of beautiful design that the Haviland brand was known for. The embossing around the rim, the dabs of gold color, the scalloped shape, and those beautiful rose bouquets make the overall style of these plates absolutely stunning. 

Making and selling dishes since the 1800s, the Haviland family bears one of the most interesting empire-building stories in the dish world.  There was drama to be had both in business competition and in sibling rivalries all while racing to produce the most exquisite porcelain the world would come to know. Understanding more about the history of the Haviland family helps add quite a bit of context to these five dinner plates. Between the 1950s-1970s, Haviland enthusiast Arlene Schleiger began cataloging the thousands of different patterns bearing the Haviland name. Since many Haviland patterns were not named in the factory, Arlene devised her own numerical pattern names to differentiate one Haviland design from another. It was a huge undertaking, one that consumed a large portion of her life, but it was not in vain. Her work is still the standard catalog tool used by collectors today.

Thanks to Arlene, this pattern is also referred to as Schleiger's 145 pattern, a handy bit of information if you are looking to fill out more pieces in your collection.

{CONDITION}

In absolutely beautiful condition. One of the plates contains a small pencil point size mark which looks like a tiny chip but actually it is an imperfection in the manufacturing as it is under the glaze. Other than that, these plates are in gorgeous shape and were well cared for over their 120 years of life. There are no chips, cracks or staining.  Please see photos.
