It all starts with a minor automobile accident during which a photogenic model sustains nothing more serious than a few contusions. From here on it becomes a matter of snap decisions, snap judgments and snap-shots - one of them decidedly candid and one distinctly fatal. (Story synopsis from the dust jacket.)

{HISTORY}

Before there was John Grisham and his library of bestselling law fiction books, there was Erle Stanley Gardner (1889-1970), the most popular bestselling author of the 20th century.  As a lawyer turned writer, Erle created the Perry Mason series as well as a host of other indelible characters that captivated readers' attention in the detective, crime, and mystery genres. Incredibly prolific, Erle wrote over 125 books throughout his career and employed a team of assistants working as his secretarial staff. Together, he and his team traveled the world doing research for novels and chasing story ideas.

This book, The Case of the Calendar Girl, published in February 1958, was Erle's 60th Perry Mason book. The series began in 1933 and wrapped up in 1969 representing 83 books in total. Writing under the cover of a dozen other pen names, Erle published multiple books per year for over 30 years, and saw his stories evolve into movies and television shows. His Perry Mason series was the most well-known of all his books.

Containing its original Detective Book Club dust jacket, this book is full of great retro style and storytelling. Lauded for the way, he could draw in a reader and keep them hooked from the first page to the last, Erle's books still remain fun collectibles to this day.
