{HISTORY}

Located near the hub of American pottery manufacturers of East Liverpool, Salem China Company, started in 1898, was based just 25 miles west in Salem, Ohio.  They designed and manufactured dishware for over 60 years, delivering artistically rendered pieces to American households across the country. This hard-to-find Mandarin pattern featuring mustard and orange-red falling leaves was made during the 1960's, the last decade the pottery operated as designers and manufacturers. Beginning in 1967 and continuing through the late 1990's, Salem China focused all their efforts on sales of their dishware, forever abandoning the maker aspect of their business. Burned to the ground as a result of a fire in 2017, the factory, tragically, has been lost to the hands of history. Luckily though, this platter survives, a pretty example of 20th century artistry.

{CONDITION}

In lovely vintage condition with no cracks or crazing. There is a small chip on the back side (less than 1/4" inch in length) that was most likely caused by a plate hanger. This chip is barely noticeable and does not affect the dish in any way.
