Come little leaves, said the Wind one day. Come to the meadows with me - and play. Put on your dresses of red and gold; for summer has past and the days grow cold. George Cooper

{HISTORY}

Located near the hub of American pottery manufacturers of East Liverpool, Ohio Salem China Company, started in 1898, was based just 25 miles west in Salem, Ohio.  They designed and manufactured dishware for over 60 years, delivering artistically rendered pieces to American households across the country. One of the very last patterns made before the company stopped producing new patterns was this one - Autumn Leaves made in 1967, the final year the pottery was active as a maker. From that point forward they focused solely on sales of their dishware, which makes this pattern a fun collectors item and a seasonal charmer.  Featuring a floating swatch of fall leaves that look like they've just blown in from the day, they contain the colors lime rind green, mustard yellow, rusty red and black.

{WHY IT IS ESPECIALLY MARVELOUS}

With its off-center arrangement, complimentary autumn color palette and large size, this plate makes an especially great server for cookies or sweet treats during snack hour or tea time. It also coordinates well with other midcentury plates in the olive, mustard and burnt orange color palettes that were popular in the 1960s and 1970s.
