Vintage White & Purple Floral Half Apron with Pockets
{HISTORY}
With its sweet purple flowers, matching polka dots, crisp white cotton material, and three deep pockets, this little wonder of a kitchen worker is full of vintage charm.
Little storytellers in and of themselves, aprons, once upon a time, were made for presentation just as much as for function. Perhaps you were part of a crew helping to serve cake at a wedding reception. Maybe you just redecorated your kitchen and wanted an apron to match. Perhaps you were a new bride and gifted a set of aprons for each day of the week, or a new sewer and challenging your skills while making your first handmade piece of apparel.
Born during a time when a woman's apron meant something. When it is was more than just an important accessory in her everyday wardrobe. When it also was a form of creative style in which to express herself, these small swatches of cloth offer up little glimpses into the intimate daily lives of women long ago. They came in all shapes, sizes, patterns, and purposes. Some were meant for the nitty-gritty details of life - cleaning, cooking, caring - and others were made for fancier situations that matched with party frocks, coordinated with holidays, and softly echoed the daintiest of whispers that effort might have been put forth.
This vintage apron was not of that fanciest kind. This one was a worker meant for daily kitchen and care work. although based on its pristine condition we are not sure if it actually saw much of either. Made of crisp cotton, it features a cheerful purple polka dot and flower motif with three pockets big enough to hold an assortment of items from notepads to utensils, cleaning cloths to baby toys. Practical and pretty, this apron also boasts longer ties which make it possible to secure it in either the front or the back.

{STYLE IDEA}
Here in the Vintage Kitchen, we love this apron best for its color palette. Purple is the hardest color to find in the kitchens of yesteryear, so it is always a joy when something in this shade pops up. This apron pairs beautifully with this cake plate, this cookbook and this other purple apron.
