{HISTORY}

Made in 1958 in West Virginia by Taylor Smith & Taylor, this platter features a soft pink rose paired with a gold floral filigree border.

Simple and elegant, this pink rose was no stranger to TS&T's catalogue of patterns. It first debuted in the late 1920s when it was then paired with a smilier yet different filigree pattern. It also graced the center of several other Taylor Smith & Taylor designs in other decades,  including a platter that contained a thin burgundy stripe, and another one taht contained a wide dark green shoulder. 

Classic imagery defies years and trends, so it's no wonder the flower of love and romance would keep coming back in new and unique ways. That makes this particular pink rose especially fun for collecting and mix and match patterns.

Whether you are a collector of mismatched filigree or a collector of mismatched roses, this platter features a lovely portrait style orientation which helps add dynamic interest to creative tablescapes and buffet displays that oftentimes feature more landscape-oriented oval platters. It also lends itself to eye catching art that fits well in long and narrow spaces or where square shapes dominate the focal point.

Shabby chic in the best of ways, this platter subtly hints at its almost-70 years of age.

{CONDITION}

In lovely shabby chic vintage condition, this platter contains no cracks. There are several tiny chips on the backside along the edge of the rim that cannot be seen from the front. There is a tiny black dot on the front of the platter between the rose blossom and the filigree, and some very light utensil marks on a few of the green leaves. The gold filigree is shiny and bright with just the slightest of rub marks on the handle areas, otherwise very shimmery, crisp and clear. Please see photos
