Vintage Tarnished Oval Silverplate Footed Serving Tray with Handles - Made by Bristal Poole Silver - EPCA
For serving coffee after meals, it is undeniable that a silver tray without a cloth is the most elegant of all. Genevieve Antoine Dariaux, Entertaining with Elegance, 1965
{HISTORY}
Perfectly tarnished with time, this beautiful silverplate serving tray was made by Poole Silver Company in Taunton, Massachusetts by their Bristol Silverplate division. Poole Silver has been around since the 1890's but the silverplate division began in 1950. This tray was part of their 110 series and was most likely a formal wedding gift to be used as a serving tray for coffee and tea.
Containing an ornate rim with scallops, shells, flowers, and scrollwork this tray also boasts feet and handles. A decorative design on the floor of the tray adds another layer of visual interest, especially when it reflects the flickering light of candles. Very sturdy and hefty in constitution (weighing in at 5 lbs) it is up for a variety of tasks. Whether you are looking to dress up your holiday cocktail cart or serving coffee to your houses guests as Genevieve suggested, this pretty tray will add a bit of glamour to any occasion.
{SPECIAL FEATURES}

{CONDITION}
This tray has not been polished in decades and therefore has aged beautifully with authentic tarnish spots and shading. The bottom is not visibly marked with the Poole backstamp but may be hiding underneath the layer of tarnish and might re-appear if you decide to polish the bottom. The handles are strong and sturdy and the feet all sit evenly and securely on hard surfaces, so there is no wobbling of the tray.

{STYLE IDEA}
One of the prettiest ways to display this silver tray is to hang it on a wall. It looks especially beautiful above bar carts or in a section of your space where it can reflect light from a nearby window or fixture. For romantic evenings, it also functions as a pretty table centerpiece displaying an assorted array of candles in varying sizes.
