Vintage Starline Luggage Weekender Case with Original Keys in Mist Blue circa 1950s-1960s
Who's the glamorous traveler with the beautiful luggage? It's you... (from a Lady Baltimore advertisement, c. 1965)
{HISTORY}
Every great gourmand needs a great traveling case to accompany them on all those globetrotting adventures of the culinary kind! This vintage Starline weekender case is here to do just that.
Made during the mid-20th century by Baltimore Luggage Company and distributed through Sears, Roebuck and Co., this Starline case was designed for the modern woman of the 1950s who appreciated simple style and lasting quality with a dash of elegant color. Available in six different hues and a multitude of sizes and shapes, Starline luggage was made of lightweight wood veneer and covered in plastic-coated vinyl for easy cleaning.
Known for its durability to withstand the rigors of travel in all its forms, whether you were embarking on a journey via bus, plane, train, or boat, Starline was designed to get you there looking calm, cool, and collected.
Effortlessly stylish, this weekender case features the mist blue color option (a shade that sits somewhere between pale grey and pale Windsor blue) with ivory threading and an interior lining in pale lavender blue that was made of Celanese acetate - a fabric that was created to mimic the look, feel, and drape of silk while also being resistant to mold, mildew, wrinkling, and shrinking. Neutral in color palette and elegant in line, other companions in the Starline series included train cases, overnight cases, model bags, dress bags, and a bevy of Pullman cases in varying sizes.
With the exception of some light staining on the bottom interior, this case is in gorgeous condition. It comes with its original keys, working locks and latches, and tight elastic on the interior pockets. As true time travelers and harbingers of joy, there is unique magic, romanticism, and stories to be found in every vintage suitcase.
And when they are not jet-setting around the globe, they make super stylish decor pieces and storage organizers lying in wait while you plan your next adventure.
