Vintage Silver Plate Water Pitcher - Made by Crescent Silverware Mfg. circa 1920's - 1930's
Silver is most enhanced by lace, crystal, bright red, pink, pale blue, dark polished wood, fresh roses and particularly by candlelight, which brings out all the beauty of its soft luster. Genevieve Antoine Dariaux, 1965
{HISTORY}
Made by the Crescent Silverware Manufacturing Company in New York somewhere between 1922-1939, this vintage silverplated water pitcher only gets better looking the older it becomes. Perfectly tarnished, it carries almost one hundred years of dining stories in its spotty markings, making it both a stunning piece of history and an engaging source of table time conversation. With its ice shield in place on the lip, this pitcher might have worked in a restaurant during the roaring twenties serving water to tipsy flappers and their handsome dates. Or it could have resided in the service pantry of a large country estate, brought out to keep guests cool and hydrated as they enjoyed a summer lunch on a sweeping verandah. Maybe it was part of a fleet of silver pieces in service on an ocean liner, or a dining car, a nightclub or a hotel bar. The possibilities and probabilities are endless as to just how exactly this vintage pitcher journeyed through the past eight or nine decades. That's just how we like our vintage pieces... full of wondrous adventures that ignite our imagination.

{CONDITION}
Gorgeous in every direction! You could polish this piece up if you like your silver bright and shiny, but there is something very lovely about its current state that will appeal to purists. Its only flaw is a slight dent in the bowl area near the base on one side of the pitcher. The dent is really just a slight inner curvature that fits the size of a small thumb tip. It is barely noticeable and even hard to view in side profile, so it is barely worth mentioning.
{SIZE}
Measures 8" inches (height) x 7.75" inches (width - handle to tip of spout). The base measures 4.5" inches in diameter.
