Vintage Sheer Floral Half Apron with Purple Ric Rac
Perfect cookery, immaculate surroundings, and dainty service, each stamped with the hallmark of the individual hostess, exemplify the ideal, to be sought for by the hostess of the new century. Janet McKenzie Hill, 1923
{HISTORY}
Purple is one of the hardest colors to find when it comes to vintage kitchen items, so it's always a joy when this dynamic shade makes an appearance. This time, it comes in the form of a sheer organdy half apron with a pink and yellow floral print and purple ric rac trim. Bound by the palest of yellow organdy fabric and anchored by two side pockets, this is one of those vintage beauties that seems to float thanks to its light and airy design.
Intended as a hostess apron, meant to handle the lightest of tasks and to protect party clothes from errant mishaps, this apron was lovingly homemade. Stitched by machine, it contains extra-long apron strings for tying in front or in back, and a longer length from hem to waist to ensure that no messes would or could get in the way of a good time.
The pink floral fabric contains a delicate barely-there check pattern which has been overlayed with yellow organdy on the panel pockets giving those areas a gauzy suggestion of the pale pink and yellow flowers behind it. Such a unique design and arrangement!
