Vintage Salem China Sandra Pattern Rimmed Soup Bowls - Set of Three Pink Rose Floral Bowls
Accouterments for dining serve a most important purpose in brightening the home. Betty Pepis
Fresh from history with its pretty pastel shades and romantic pattern, this vintage dishware brightens up any table with a subtle blend of beautiful spring color. Made by Salem China Company in Salem, Ohio this pretty trio of pink floral rimmed soup bowls was part of the Sandra pattern, a feminine collection that most likely was made in the 1930's. Featuring swags of roses and swirly fawn colored designs, it contains the hues of celery green, pale pink, pastel orange and a fawn colored shade of brown. Delicate crazing throughout lends graceful suggestion to its almost 100 years of life.
Dishes from the 1930's era are always so intriguing. So much was going on during that decade, these dishes could have had any number of interesting adventures. Perhaps they were part of the frontier boon and made their way across the country via motor car or wagon. Maybe they were a source of comfort and joy during the struggling years of the Great Depression. Or perhaps they were the adored centerpieces of a bride's wedding set. Whichever the scenario, they were loved and well cared for by their previous owners. Now it's your turn to give them a whole new century's worth of stories (and soup!).
