Vintage Royal Embassy Japanese Porcelain Platter - Rutland Pattern circa 1940s-1950s
{HISTORY}
Made by Royal Embassy in Japan during the 1940s-1950s, this vintage porcelain platter features the Rutland pattern with a colorful mix of holiday shades and bright garden florals. Like many Japanese potteries including Meito and Noritake, this beautifully designed platter is Thanksgiving and Christmas approved thanks to its rust red and gold swag border.
Small in size, measuring just 12” inches in diameter, this platter won't fit your holiday turkey, but it will serve a plate of hors d’oeuvres, or a side dish fit for a festive meal. Pale teal, spring green, lemon yellow, and pale grey add an extra dose of unexpected color and keep this platter looking fresh and lovely year after year, decade after decade.
With a pale ivory shoulder and bright white center, this platter also mixes and matches beautifully with other solid cream and white dishes, making it both a standout show piece and a complimentary companion to so many other vintage patterns. Traveling time across eighty years, it's fun to imagine all the types of holiday parties that this platter may have been a part of and all the lovely meals it has served across eight decades of life and love.
