Vintage Round Ceramic Bird Tile Trivets by H & R Johnson LTD circa 1935-1979 - Sold Individually
{HISTORY}
Made in the bustling pottery hub of Stoke-on-Trent England by H & R Johnson, these round vintage ceramic tiles feature two colorful bird botanicals ideally suited for spring and autumn. Large in size (6" inches in diameter), these tiles double as trivets and spoon rests for pretty table and counter display.
Well-renowned around the globe for their beautiful designs and high-quality craftsmanship, H & R Johnson has been making tiles since the early 1900s. Now headquartered in Australia, they continue to be a global leader that has evolved across the century as tastes and styles have changed over the past 100 years.
These two bird tiles were part of a series of aviary botanicals made by H & R Johnson between the 1930s-1970s making them fun collectibles for stylish home projects. Alhough not custom to H & R Johnson themselves, the bird patterns could be found on a variety of ceramic dinnerware made by other European potteries too. As far as we have researched, these seem to be the only examples of the birds in trivet/tile format, so that makes them a unique addition to the kitchen. And thanks to their simple style, they compliment a variety of different vintage dinnerware sets and color palettes.
Please note: due to their autumn/spring branch aesthetics, these two trivets are sold individually.
