Vintage Pyrex Clear Glass Refrigerator Storage Container with Lid #501B circa 1940s-1950s
{HISTORY}
There's a reason these vintage Pyrex storage containers are called Fridgies among collectors. It's a cute name for a cute shape. With a one-cup capacity and a clear glass lid, these dishes represented the best of midcentury modern efficiency when it came to organized refrigerators. The clear glass made it easy to see the contents, the small size made it easy to store small food items or leftovers, and the beveled glass lid could be flipped either way for convenient stacking of multiple dishes.
This Fridgie features the sunshine backstamp produced between the 1940s-1950s with a #501B base and a #501C lid with ridged edges. Nowadays in addition to fridge storage, these little containers also make great containers for pantry and countertop storage and the lid fits all universal Fridgie containers of the 501 size including the versions that came in bright primary colors.
