Vintage Pink Linen Napkin with Cross-Stitch Embroidery - Flower Basket Design
The napkin is never tucked in at the collar or in the vest, but instead must be put on the lap and opened lengthwise so that it is folded double across the knees. It is never rumpled up on the table nor in the lap and must be used to dap the face or lips not wipe. (from Amy Vanderbilt's New Complete Book of Etiquette, 1967)
{HISTORY}
This pretty pink vintage napkin is just waiting for a festive spring or summer party. Made of soft linen, it is elegantly understated with its single black thread border and cheerful flower basket embroidery. Because there is only one of these linens available in the shop, it makes a fun candidate for mix and match table settings or for a host of outside of the box creativity, like a picnic linen, basket liner, guest towel or kitchen themed gift wrap.
{SPECIAL FEATURES}
- Cross stitch embroidery pattern
- Colors include ballet pink, black, sky blue, sage green raspberry, salmon and purple
- Soft yet strong linen fabric makes it smooth to the touch yet easily foldable to retain the desired shape
{CONDITION}
There are some light grey/green smudge marks on top edge near border and down one fold crease - mostly like caused by it laying folded next to a silver or pewter dish for a long period of time. These marks are not super dark and are harmonious with the colors of the flower basket, so while noticeable they certainly don't detract from the overall aesthetic of this vintage charmer. Other than that this napkin does not contain any holes, rips or pulled threads. Please see photos..
