Vintage Pewter Coasters Made in Germany - Set of Three circa 1960s-1970s
Prost!
{HISTORY}
Made in Germany during the 1960s and 1970s by SKS Designs, this trio of pewter coasters with their pretty flower-like shape, were the constant companions necessary for all beverages in order to keep tabletops clean and spot-free.
Made of 92% pewter, they are strong and durable yet demure in shape - a characteristic that doesn't always describe this austere style of metalwork. Many vintage SKS pewter coasters feature additional imagery in the center whether they were comprised of local landscapes, figural imagery, or crests, but we love this trio best for its simple, unadorned style that has so much classic go-with-anything appeal. Tarnished to perfection, they provide an elegant backdrop for all your elegant drinks!
Known for their decorative metalware, SKS Designs was founded in the 1920s by Karl Scheffer-Klute in Sundern, Germany. At the forefront of producing finely crafted merchandise in the copper, pewter, and stainless steel industries for over a century, the company was renamed Blomus in 2010 and still continues to create new and innovative products to this day.
