{HISTORY}

A city in Michigan, a Pennsylvania seed company, a pre-revolutionary war tavern in Rye, NY, a poultry food brand, and a hotel bar and restaurant in Philadelphia. The name Pennfield's has been no stranger to the business community throughout history, but when it comes to vintage restaurant ware, this dinner plate is seemingly one of a kind.

Made by Syracuse China in October 1981 and featuring the name Pennfield's stamped in gold at center, this plate was most likely destined for Pennfield's Restaurant & Bar in Philadelphia, PA. An elegant hotel piano bar and eatery, Pennfield's could be found inside the Philadelphia Hilton in the late 1970s and inside the Philadelphia Sheraton University City hotel in the 1980s. Whether they moved up and moved on between hotels or operated in two locations, it's not quite certain, but the Hilton location was known for its live piano lounge music and the Sheraton for its elegant atmosphere, so this plate would have been fitting in either venue. 

Featuring a handpainted wide navy blue rim and an elegant gold stripe around the edge, this classic style plate was made by many different dishware manufacturers, but this is the only one we found featuring the Syracuse backstamp and the Pennfield's logo.  That makes it a really fun collector's piece and also a great addition to your serving collection. Pair it with other blue and white dishes for unique mix-and-match style or make it the spotlight showstopper at mealtime and pair it with simple white plates.

Fun for patriotic holidays, nautical-themed parties and gold and white color palettes, this plate brings a touch of vintage hospitality home to your house.
