Vintage Peacock Wall Pocket - Mint Green Wall Vase circa 1950s
Long associated with beauty, power, protection, and elegance, peacocks have been charming their way into our home spaces for centuries...
{HISTORY}
Initially associated with Asian and Indian cultures, peacocks have been a part of the world's landscape for over 4000 centuries. Used primarily as a food source up until the Middle Ages, peacocks have captivated people's imaginations throughout time. Symbolic creatures of greek mythology, folklore, fables, and legends, the peacock is undoubtedly one of the world's most beautiful birds. Depending on the story or context in which these birds feature, they have come to represent many things to many cultures - among them beauty, power, protection, and elegance.
Clearly, just the right kind of pal you'd like to have symbolically hanging around your kitchen, this vintage 1950s era wall pocket boasts a proud peacock with a round belly and a lovely fan of feathers. In a beautiful shade of jadeite green, it is Ideal for small plantings like succulents or your favorite herb. It also works wonderfully well as a vase thanks to its flat bottom and thick body.
Marked USA pottery on back, this peacock was most likely made by McCoy pottery, although several other American potteries also made similar peacock wall pockets, so without the exact makers mark, we'd hate to assume it was McCoy if in fact it was actually another pottery altogether:) Either way, it's one beauty of a bird
