Vintage Peach and Plum Pattern Glassware - West Virginia Glass Specialty Co Fruit Tumblers -circa 1960s 1970s
"You cannot surpass American glass..." (Advertising slogan for the West Virginia Glass Speciality Co, 1952)
{HISTORY}
From the state that produced more glassware than any other area in the country, comes these two tall vintage juice tumbler glasses. Made by the West Virginia Glass Speciality Company in Weston, WV, they feature bright and colorful fruits of the peach and plum variety.
In the latter half of the 20th century, West Virginia was producing 85% of glassware in America. One of the largest and most popular companies was West Virginia Glass Specialty Co., which made an array of glass products. Especially admired for their pieces that contained colorful decals, W.V.G.S.Co produced these two glasses sometime between the 1960s and 1970s.
Originally part of a fruit series that included grapes, cherries, pears, apples, and other orchard growers, they came in assorted sets paired with pitchers and were available in an array of different sizes ideal for cocktails, juice, water, and other various beverages.
Beautiful in all their vibrant details, these glasses most likely came from two different decades - as one contains a gold rim and the other does not. Measuring just over 5" inches tall they are both ideally suited for the breakfast table (juice time), the bar cart (cocktail time) or any beverage needs in between.
