Yield House has always been the ultimate source for everything you need to create the American Traditional look... (from a 1987 advertisement)

{HISTORY}

Founded in 1947 in Conway, New Hampshire, Yield House offered furniture and home decor items through in-store locations and a popular mail order catalog that reached millions of consumers each year. Closed in 2004, after difficulties faced while trying to keep up with the ever-changing face of technology, Yield House represented classic New England style and aesthetics.

These vintage brass pineapples, made in India,  were part of their collection - hospitable statement pieces that are a natural fit in the kitchen for displaying cookbooks or adding visual interest to a mantel or open shelving area.  Unique in the fact, that while they are made off pure brass, they've been enhanced with paint by a previous owner and now offer wonderful shabby chic cottage charm to any cookspace.

Containing that highly prized colorful English cottage shade of green - not quite emerald, not quite watermelon rind, the leaves and stand of these bookends are bright and lively while the pineapple has been painted in three different shades of yellow for a dynamic and layered effect. The chippy paint adds an extra layer of weathered charm and relaxed folk art vibes.

 A symbol of warm hospitality since the sea captain days, pineapples have represented abundance, exotic appeal, and conviviality for centuries. Read more about how they came to be such an important symbol here in one of our blog posts.
