{HISTORY}

Made in Ireland by Whitecliff for Aer Lingus, this set of vintage melamine table mats features the artwork of James Malton (1760-1803), one of Ireland's most well-known artists of the 18th century. Depicting architectural scenes of Dublin captured between 1792-1799, this series offers a mini-tour of the city's most beautiful buildings. Viewed as an important study of Dublin as it evolved from rural country cottages to a more cosmopolitan urban setting, James' drawings are now considered an important and insightful part of Ireland's history. 

Sites featured here include Trinity College, View from Capel Street, The Parliament House, View of the Law-Courts, Saint Stephen's Green, Saint Patrick's Cathedral, and the Custom House 

Backed with green felt, each table mat is sized at 9.5" inches (length) x 7.5" inches (width) making them ideal tablescape decorations for tea time, coffee and dessert parties or hors' oeuvres hour. With muted colors and exquisite details they also make beautiful wall hangings in a cozy area of kitchen like a bar corner or breakfast nook.

Heat resistant up to 280 degrees, vintage melamine mats like these are great for use as hot pads, trays and table protectors and offer a slick, smooth surface that is easy to care for. {CONDITION}

In gorgeous vintage condition. There are no scratches, scrapes, or stains.  The green felt is securely attached to the back of each mat. All imagery is clear and crisp. The Saint Stephen's Gren mat bears some insignificant light grey rub marks in the title section. Please see photos.
