Sophisticated French style comes home to the kitchen with this beautiful vintage cake plate. Made in Limoges, France, it features shimmery gold rose bouquets outlined in a deep autumn red with embossed swags and shells edged around a gold scalloped rim. A stunner in any season, we might like this one best for fall and winter serving, but it definitely has its place at the spring and summer table too. 

Often times when we scout heirlooms for the shop, we select dishware for the foods we can imagine serving on them. This one brings to mind cranberry upside-down cakes, dark chocolate dipped bonbons, fluffy frosted layer cakes, coconut-sprinkled lamingtons, wine-simmered chutneys served with cheese, a brandied bundt cake, an autumn salad studded with dates and nuts, brie, and caramelized onions. Oh the possibilities!
