Possibilities await when it comes to creative sewing.

This vintage spool of lace was made by Liberty Fabrics of New York in the late 20th century. Featuring approximately 250 yards of stretchy lace, this delicate bundle was originally manufactured for the lingerie industry (see vintage advertisement in the photo section) but here In The Vintage Kitchen we just love it for use as table linen edging, apron embellishments, napkin trim, gift packaging, and cafe curtain detailing. 

In operation from the 1940s-early 2000s, Liberty Fabrics of New York manufactured all sorts of lace for the wholesale industry from their factories in New York City, North Carolina and Virginia.

In the 1980s, they debuted endless yards of their elasticized stretchy lace that became a big hit with the company. Strong yet delicate, this lace could be pulled taught without breaking, making it ideal for bands and straps around shoulders, legs, busts, and waists. Bright white in color with a scalloped edge and triangle designs, this lace pattern was number #76486 within the Liberty Fabrics catalogue and was most likely made between the 1980s-1990s.

The original attached sticker states that the roll initially held 273 yards. While a small portion of the lace has been removed, it is an almost full roll, so we estimate that there is about 250 yards left in total. 

In beautiful condition, this lace looks like it just came off the assembly line and is in very clean and very well-cared-for condition. A lovely embellishment for all sorts of sewing projects, we cannot wait to hear all about what sort of creativity this roll will inspire!

{CONDITION}

In beautiful vintage condition, this roll of lace is very clean and bright in color. There is a small portion (about a yard or two ) that is slightly cream-colored, most likely due to ageing. The cardboard is strong and flat and is very clean and spot-free. Please see photos. 

{SIZE}

Measures 6" inches (diameter) x 6.5" inches (height). The lace is 1/2" inch in width.  The entire roll weighs 1.4 lbs.
