Vintage Johnson Brothers Fruit Sampler Dinner and Bread Plates - Set of Four Dishes - Staffordshire Old Granite
We are just as hungry for beauty as we are for food...
{HISTORY}
This declaration was once heard while listening to a classical music concert, but don't you think it also applies to the table and the ways in which we set it too? Here in the Vintage Kitchen, we wholeheartedly do! You know the adage - we eat with our eyes first - so why not make your table settings as equally delicious as your dinner.
Here to help is this set of four plates, made by Johnson Brothers in Staffordshire England. As one of the most successful English potteries, in business from 1890-2015, Johnson Brothers, who specialized in exporting to the American market, were exceptionally good at tapping into the American mindset. Unlike other English potteries who catered to English sensibilities, Johnson Brothers followed the buying trends and styles of American consumers. Which is why these pretty dishes are most appealing for Thanksgiving Day decor. Featuring a hand engraved fruit sampler design pattern they encapsulate all the warm, earthy colors of the Autumn season. Pears and peaches take center stage on the plate surrounded by rings of stylized line drawings, making a visually stunning display that looks both artistic and dynamic. Just the kind of beauty you crave for your Fall celebrations and your turkey day dinner!
Made between 1974-1982, this set is comprised of four plates total - two dinner plates and two bread plates (which can also easily transition into salad or dessert plates too).
