Vintage Italian Glass Decanter with Clipper Ship Design - Made in Italy - Javit Hand Cut Crystal
Show me how you drink and I will tell you who you are. Emile Peynaud
Cocktails and clipper ships go way back together in history. Since most alcohol came to the United States from other places, high spirits on the high seas were a natural collaboration of both design and drink. This vintage crystal decanter with its cut glass clipper ship motif dates to the 1980's and was made in Italy by the Towle Company expressly for import to American markets. A truly classic piece of barware with thick glass and old world style, its artistic glass roots originally began in the US and then like any good adventurer headed overseas only to return once again to America.
Designed by Javit Badash, a family run company that started with a humble investment and quickly rose to become the largest hand cut and machine cut glass retailer in the country, Javit Crystal supplied many retail pieces for large department stores during the mid 20th century. When the founder of Javit Badash retired in the 1970s, he sold his company to Leonard Florence (a glass dynamo who specialized in affordable glass imports) who had joined forces with Towle Silversmiths (a third dynamo who specialized in manufacturing and importing glass and silver) making this one decanter a trifecta of talent.
Simple, elegant and always in style, this decanter adds a little nautical beauty and function to any bar cart. A salve for the sailor in your life, the coastal dweller or the maritime adventurer pour some rum or whiskey from this vintage vessel and watch the spirits soar!
