{HISTORY}

A long and lovely example of vintage embroidery, this 41-inch table runner features a bevy of beautifully embroidered pink flowers surrounded by ombre crocheted edging. With a color palette of multiple shades of pink, split pea, and pastel yellow all stitched onto bright white linen, this table runner has cheerful style written all over it. 

Containing several types of stitch work including cross-stitch and blanket-stitch, it's a beauty in needlework execution and design from all angles. The ombre edge matches all the colors in the flowers with graduated flair and a cohesive overall palette. A matching set of flowers flanks each end with a side series that runs almost all the way along the entire length of the linen with just a small blank area in the center. The only thing it lacks is knowing who the talented sewer was, something we always lament here in the Vintage Kitchen. 

When you think about the amount of time it took to sew such a textile and the amount of focus and attention it required, it is amazing that all vintage embroidery isn't rendered priceless.  It would be so fun to know more about the woman behind this cloth... when she sewed it, where she lived, and the reasoning or circumstances behind it. We aren't privy to such details now, but those questions do open the door to modern-day dreaming about all spectacular possibilities back then.

{CONDITION}

In beautiful vintage condition. There are no spots, stains, rips, tears or pulled threads. with the exception of one light tea-colored spot (the size of a small garden garden pea) on the edge near the middle section of the cloth. Normally we don't like to offer vintage linens with spots or stains in the shop, but this one is an exception - too pretty to cast aside to a rag bag for just one teeny tiny little flaw.
