{HISTORY}

Gorgeous in presentation, this vintage framed botanical art by Jean Louis Prevost (1760-1810) features a beautiful mixed bouquet of cottage flowers in shades of pink, grey, white, and espresso.

Simply framed in what might possibly be maple wood, this print was officially known as Larkspur, Primula, Narcissus, Carnation, and Phlox No. 02

Jean Louis Prevost, was one of the most well-known French botanical painters of his time. Still a favorite today, many of his floral illustrations have been reproduced on a variety of home decor items including coasters, which were once available in the shop.  

Although this print is undated, we estimate that it was made sometime around the 1940s-1950s era when Prevost prints became very popular as decorative wall art. Many prints were sold in loose folios in traditional sizes for easy framing, which is why you often see Jean Louis's work on the market in pairs or multiple collages.

{CONDITION}

In beautiful vintage condition,  this print is authentically tanned at the edges giving it a gorgeous tea-colored patina that only comes with time and age. The frame is in strong and sturdy condition. The glass is clear and scratch-free and the floral bouquet is crisp and delicately detailed.
