{HISTORY}

In the 1930s, 1940s, 1950s eras this is how you added a little shimmer and sparkle to your table! These vintage mirrored glass place cards were made in Los Angeles by The Glass Craftsmen for their Glass Craft Line. Established in the 1930s, the Glass Craftsmen made all sorts of novelty decor pieces including lucite boxes, mirrored matchboxes, corsage vials, and sets for floral decorations.

This set of eight place cards features a bouquet of colorful flowers that include tulips, daisies, daffodils, and lilies of the valley that have been handpainted on slim sleeves of mirrored glass. A frosted inner rectangle provides space to write your table guest's name, which can then be wiped away and reused again and again for party after party. We aren't quite sure what type of writing instrument would have been required for these place cards originally - (pencil vs. pen) but the florals are fragile and can easily be wiped away if they come in contact with cleaning products, so possibly a pencil was used and then the names were erased in each square once mealtime fun was had. Today, we would recommend a water-soluble writing instrument or even a watercolor paintbrush to personalize these beauties without harming their unique design.

Incorporating mirrors into your tablescape is always a fun idea. Whether it reflects sunlight bouncing around the room or candlelight flickering in the dark, mirrors of any kind add an extra layer of depth to decorating and add movement to the table.

{CONDITION}

In lovely vintage condition. All place cards are bright and shiny. One (pink flower) has a missing piece of the reflective mirror backing so, it has exposed glass in one corner. There is some wear along the edges of each of the place cards giving them a lovely aged appearance just like ghosting on old mirrors.

The metal stands are all in excellent condition with no rust spots. The box is also in fantastic condition. There is one rip in one corner seam and two scuff marks on top of the box but it is very strong and sturdy and offers great protection with its fitted insert for the glass place cards.
