Vintage Floral Ceramic Cachepots - Set of Two circa 1930s-1940s - Roses and Tulips
{HISTORY}
Blooming with blousy bouquets of roses, tulips, bluebells, and wax flowers, these two vintage ceramic cachepots represent beautiful gardens unto themselves. Add in your favorite houseplants, fresh-cut bouquets, or a menagerie of mini succulents and a spectacular greenspace awaits. It's a beautiful pairing of new meets old.
Hard to find in vintage pieces, these cachepots are rare finds when it comes to collecting a specific pattern made by a specific manufacturer. These two are unmarked as to maker, but if we had to guess, we suspect they were produced by Homer Laughlin in the 1930s or early 1940s, as the floral bouquets closely mirror one of their Eggshell Nautilus patterns manufactured in 1939.
Collecting dishware in the 20th century meant that you could build entire matching sets of coordinated kitchenware from plates to canisters to lamps to bakeware to condiment servers and much more. That's where cachepots like these two came in. It was one more way to incorporate your favorite ceramic pattern into your kitchen and dining decor. Nowadays things are not as matchy, but throughout the first half of the 20th century the more complete your dishware cohesive your decor, and the more your set was.
These two cachepots, are graduated in size and nest inside each other for easy storage. The floral bouquets appear on both sides of each pot, making for attractive viewing from all angles. Originally intended to hold flower pot liners they also offer alternate storage possibilities too thanks to their simple and accommodating design. Great for organization, serving needs, pantry storage and shelf display decor, their pastel color palette offers lots of design inspiration when it comes to creating a unique display.
