{HISTORY}

Always a popular choice for kitchen linens, cross-stitch is the oldest form of embroidery, dating all the way back to the Middle Ages, when it was developed not only to decorate fabrics but also as a training tool for girls to practice their sewing techniques and skill.

This colorful table linen is not quite Middle Ages old - most likely this one dates to the late 1960s/early 1970s based on color scheme - but it is as classic as they come as far as design. Featuring two large floral sprays on opposite sides that are connected by a zig-zag black border in between, this cloth features bright and bold colors ideal for all seasons of the year. Orange and brown threads capture the shades of autumn, yellow and green highlight spring, black and white signify the snowy days of winter and pink and blue flowers symbolize summer. 

Ideal in size, it's large enough for use as a table runner, but also makes a great tray liner, dish drying towel, and bar cart linen.  Thanks to its rainbow shades, it looks great when paired with most foods and looks especially engaging when displayed with fruits and vegetables and baked goods.

{CONDITION}

In lovely vintage condition. All thread colors are bright and tight. The cotton cloth is clean and bright white.  There are no spots or stains with the exception of one small rust mark (1/4" inch in length) near the center of the cloth. Please see photo.
