Vintage Embroidered Linen Table Runner - 35x11 - Colorful Handstitched Kitchen Cloths and Linens
To entertain successfully one must create with the imagination of a playwright, plan with the skill of a director, and perform with the instincts of an actor. James Beard
{HISTORY}
Ideal as a table runner, centerpiece display cloth or a liner for your long dough bowl or bread basket, this vintage embroidered table linen brings all the lively and vibrant fun of retro kitchens home to your space. If you are just dipping your toe into the world of vintage kitchen collectibles, embroidered cloths are a great place to start. They add a little personality to plain white modern dishware, add festive flair to mid-century sets and always add a dollop of pretty color to any table regardless of age or shape.
This one is hand-embroidered in a pretty floral pattern using two different types of stitches. Designed on bright white linen that is so soft, due to years of careful laundering, and edged with decorative crocheted lace, it is a beauty in craftsmanship that brings instant cheer to any occasion. Because almost all embroidered kitchen linens are unsigned and undated, we will never know the exact date of manufacture or the artistic sewer behind it, but most likely this piece dates to the late 1950's due to color and and style, and the skilled sewer who made it was a fan of balance in color, harmony and layout.
