Vintage Embroidered Drawn Hemstitched Cotton Tablecloth - 35x36 - Daisy Flowers with Green Leaves
In old English daisies mean "day's eye" because the petals close up at night and reopen in the morning, which is one reason why daisies are associated with new beginnings and the refreshment of life...
This vintage handstitched tablecloth is a true marvel in design. Containing both embroidery and hemstitched drawnwork, the talent and time devoted to this piece is amazing. Containing 10 different sections of hand-embroidered daisy flowers with trailing leaves, this cotton cloth also includes three sections of drawnwork where individual threads were pulled away from the cloth in order to create gaps and holes for additional design. While looking over the intricate squares and the pretty flowers it is fun to imagine stories about the sewer. When did she make it? How long did it take and for what purpose? Was it for a special occasion gift or for her own interior decor?

Calling out for a long worn farm table, this vintage almost-square tablecloth would look lovely turned on a point and displayed in the center of the table.
