{HISTORY} 

Made by a pottery named after the two towers that dot the landscape in Bologna, Italy, this vintage Ceramica Due Torri canister features beautiful watercolor flowers (peonies, maybe?) artistically rendered in two different variations on the back and front. 

The Towers, which were built during the Middle Ages, are the pride of Bologna, and no doubt this pretty canister in turn was the pride of the kitchen. Ceramica Due Torri made all sorts of different styles of ceramic kitchenware from crocks to canisters to serving plates and bowls. This pattern, hard to find now, was also available in at least a large bowl and a large plate but could possibly have included canisters as well for a complete kitchen set.

Helpful in so many ways, with its open top, this one is a great vessel for holding long-handled kitchen utensils but also works well as a vase, plant holder or wine chiller too.  In other words, all the aspects of cooking that make Italian dining so delicious and attractive!

{CONDITION}

In lovely vintage condition. There are no chips or cracks, and there are lots of beautiful and authentic light-crazing lines. The interior is very clean and bright and the glaze is very smooth and shiny both inside and out.
