Sailing into the shop from the 1980s by way of 1620, this model paper replica kit of the Mayflower is just the kind of Thanksgiving activity that’s fun for friends and family to work on while waiting for the turkey to cook.

Published by Dover in 1988, this Cut & Assemble Mayflower paper model was designed by A.G Smith and accurately portrays the 17th century Mayflower ship from all angles. 

With A. G.’s detailed step-by-step instructions and diagrams, anyone and everyone can become a shipbuilder. Featuring 16 full-color plates, a minimal amount of tools are required for this project.  An X-Acto knife, Elmers Glue, thread, thumb tacks, toothpicks, and a pair or two of fine scissors will get your boat built in a matter of hours or days depending on your time schedule and number of helpers.

 Just like a puzzle, this is a fun project for multiple people to work on at once. There are quite a few pages of small pieces for the ship that will require a skilled hand and precise cuts and folds, so older kids may need some supervision. Younger kids might find it fun to draw background scenery, ocean waves and Pilgrims for the ship once it’s completed. 

Regardless of age and skill level, everyone will be excited to hoist the sails and set this ship afloat on an imaginary ocean. Made of thick, coated cardstock with a slight gloss,  this Mayflower makes a great centerpiece for the kids’ table at Thanksgiving, a fun take-home souvenir to commemorate the holiday, and a cute piece of shelf art for the budding boatbuilder.

In lovely vintage condition, this booklet is clean and  bright throughout with no spots, stains, folds or wrinkled pages. The colors of the ship pieces are bright and vibrant.

The booklet measures 12.25” inches (length) x 9.25” inches (width) and weighs 11oz. The Mayflower model when complete will measure approximately 11.5” inches (length) x 17” inches (height).
