{HISTORY}

Originally, founded in Bavaria in the 1940s by the Krebs family, the Christmas by Krebs brand has been making exquisite ornaments for over 80 years. Sought after around the world, they opened an American plant in Roswell, New Mexico in the early 1970s and have been defining the holiday spirit for millions of Americans around the country ever since.

This set of four Christmas by Krebs glass ornaments was made in the 1980s. They feature shiny pearl-white balls with gold glitter flourishes and bouquets of pink and red roses. The start of silvery grey oxidation marks add an extra layer of authentic aged patina and an overall gorgeous aesthetic of past holiday celebrations.

There is something very wonderful about decorating your Christmas tree, garlands or mantelpieces with traditional glass ornaments. So many modern-day ornaments are made of plastic, a much more practical material, but vintage glass adds an air of delicate charm to your decorating that mirrors the fragility of life and the care that has been taken to protect such important family memories for decades. 

Christmas by Krebs ornaments are our favorite here in the Vintage Kitchen not only because they are each impeccably made by hand but also because their designs are always so delicately detailed. In the 1980s, when this set was made, Krebs designers followed fashion industry trends and created color combinations that reflected palettes seen on the runways of Paris, New York and Milan. This rose pattern was called Memories and features a red rose color similar to a warm tomato red or a very dark coral and a peachy pink rose, each highlighted with green leaves in shades of olive and pine.

{CONDITION}

In lovely vintage condition. There are no cracks and all crowns fit securely on each ornament. There are light oxidation marks just starting to form on each ornament - an authentic sign of aging.  Glitter details are in lovely shape with very distinct and crisp lines and flourishes. Three of the original gold crowns are included but the forth crown looks to be a replacement crown that is very similar to the others but doesn't match exactly.
