{HISTORY}

Hopping into the house all the way from The Land of the Palms, this vintage rabbit planter was made in Brazil for Avon in the 1980s. It came in an assortment of colors and designs, including a pink and green floral, an all-white version with just a hint of pink around the ears, and this one -  a blue and white bunny sporting a floral garland around his neck and ribbon-tied bouquets on each side. 

Although the body and mold style were the same, these Brazilian bunnies were all hand-painted, giving each one its own unique character. Since Avon mass-produced many of its giftware, ceramics, and promotional items during the latter half of the 20th century, they generally tend not to be hard to find, but what makes this rabbit planter especially unique is the chippy areas near his nose, along the edge of one ear, underneath one eye, and just below a flower on its chest.

These perfectly imperfect areas are often the type of authentic flaking and age-related wear that you'd find on centuries-old ceramic pieces, which gives this 40-year-old bunny a head start on acquiring a gorgeous patina all his own. These marks add layers of charm, history, adventure, and character that will only get better with time and age.

Folk art-like in appearance, we just love this bunny's chubby shape and realistic stance.  His ears lay behind his head to form a natural bowl that will easily fit a 3-3.5 inch flower pot or create the perfect nest for a small collection of succulants or a mini houseplant.

Sentimental and sweet at first sight, it's fun to think that 100 years from now, this little bunny from Brazil will be a storyteller of how houses were decorated in the 1980s and how a life lived with plants in the 20th century was so whimsical and wonderful.

{CONDITION}

Please read the condition notes above. In addition to five small chippy areas, there are also lovely light crazing marks throughout. This bunny contains no cracks, spots, or stains and is very clean and bright inside and out with a shiny, smooth glaze. Please see photos.
