Meet Burly!

He's a vintage chalkware terrier dog. Most likely a carnival prize dating to the 1940s, Burly is very similar in appearance to the UK's Sylvac ceramic terrier dogs, but our guy here is hefty in weight, solid in his gypsum composition, and hand-painted in that colorful and unique way that only vintage chalkware can be. 

With a sweet face, earnest eyes, and those expressive, folded-down ears, we like to imagine that Burly was the prize of the day for a game lover who beat out all the others just to win his heart. 

A red-tipped tongue, a curly coat, flaked paint, and an engaging stance make Burly quite the character.  Measuring 8 inches tall and remaining true to his Airedale nature, he's ready to add instant personality to your kitchen. Whether you find a home for him on a shelf next to the dishes, at the top of a cupboard next to the plants, or tucked into a nook on the countertop next to the treat jar, he'll happily settle into the space and act like the perfect gentleman that he is.

From morning 'til night, he brings his good manners, love of life, and sweet spirit to all the activity and adventure of a busy kitchen. Like any fellow food lover, he'll happily discuss the day's menu with you, but he doesn’t require much in the way of home cooking. The only thing Burly really needs is a few extra smiles each day. He's an exchanger that way. He smiles at you. You smile at him. The bond is sealed. He'll be not only your friend for life but also your prize-winning trophy of happiness and joy from here on out.

{CONDITION}

In lovely vintage condition, Burly contains no chips or cracks. Paint is flaking in some areas, as expected with age and medium. He sits firmly on a tabletop with no wobbling. Vintage chalkware contains natural pits and imperfections, these are not damaged areas, just part of the nature of the material. Please see photos.
