{HISTORY}

Hailing from the 1960s/1970s era, when shish kebabs were THE exotic newfound food of the moment in the U.S., these brass and metal kabob skewers added just the right amount of glamour to a sophisticated meal.   

Featuring an array of farm animals - cows, sheep, a duck, a pig and a lamb, they represented the different types of meat used in traditional Mediterranean kebabs and offered a hint to guests as to what they might expect from each skewer as it came off the grill. 

Much more fun than plain bamboo or metal skewers, this menagerie was made in Taiwan and each retains its own unique character. Fun for fondue also, the long skewers are accommodating towards other foods too like fruit, cheese, cake bites, smores, hotdogs, and antipasto. And if you are looking for some creative signage for a buffet table, these seven would fit the bill beautifully.  

Six of the seven skewers are stamped with the Taiwan mark but the lamb was made by a different manufacturer - possibly in Turkey and features a flat style skewer as opposed to the round style appearing in the other six. All skewers feature sharp points at the end of each skewer.

{CONDITION}

In good vintage condition, these skewers are shiny and bright. The brass finials animal retains its own unique personality in the details of each animal, however, the lamb is a bit more crude in design and not as defined in detail- possibly suggesting that it is older than the rest. Each topper is securely affixed to each skewer. Please see photos. 

{SIZE}

Each skewer measures between 12.5" inches - 12.75" inches in length with the exception of the lamb which 13.25" inches in length. All together, this batch of skewers weighs 9 oz.
