Vintage Adams China Old English Staffordshire Ware La Hacienda Dinner Plate circa 1950s
Founded in 1706, the historic Old Town section of Albuquerque, New Mexico has been delighting visitors for centuries...
{HISTORY}
A popular restaurant for locals and tourists, La Hacienda Dining Rooms, located in the Old Town section of Albuquerque, New Mexico operated in its halcyon days between the 1950s-1970s.
Known for its delicious Mexican American food and its charming Spanish Colonial ambiance, it was the restaurant of choice that offered visitors and locals a taste of the historic Southwest both in food and architecture. Wedding receptions, birthday parties, special events, and out-of-town visitors all enjoyed the warmth and hospitality of La Hacienda, making it a must-see for travelers to New Mexico during the mid-20th century.
During the 1950s, to commemorate such a fun trip and engaging dining experience, visitors took home souvenir dinner plates like this one made by Adams China of Staffordshire, England. Featuring a portrait of the restaurant's famous front entryway it's surrounded by a lush floral arrangement and a grey rim that makes it both an eye-catching decor piece as well as a functional dinner plate.
A unique piece of vintage Americana, this plate is so festive for your southwestern dinner nights. Whether you are serving up a heaping plate of beans and rice, a stack of tacos, homemade guacamole or your favorite chips and salsa for snacking, this plate will add an authentic touch to your celebratory meal.
It's also a lovely tribute to a once popular eatery that has since faded from the historic Albuquerque restaurant scene. After it changed hands in the late 20th century, La Hacienda remained in business off and on through the first two decades of the 21st century, but encountered numerous difficulties and struggled to retain the outstanding reputation it was once known for. Operating through 2020, the restaurant is now permanently closed.
