{HISTORY}

Made in 1973, this classic banded jug has been a favorite made by Lord Nelson Pottery since the 1950s. Carrying all the decorative charm of simple farmhouse style, this jug was made in the bustling pottery hub of Stoke-On-Trent, England under the manufacturing brand of Elijah Cotton Ltd. 

Elijah started his business in 1880 before building the Nelson Pottery in 1885. A leading manufacturer in the area, Elijah, and then the generations following, produced pottery under the name Elijah Cotton, as well as Lord Nelson, Nelson Ware, and Lord Nelson Ware between 1880-1981. 

Debuting in the early 1950s, Lord Nelson's banded jug design was produced all the way through the 1980s and came in several different sizes. This one is of medium size and was made in June 1973.  Unique among other L.N. jugs, this one in particular, contains subtle color variations in the light staining that surrounds the lower half of the jug, giving it an almost milky appearance that is so appealing for a farmhouse aesthetic.

{CONDITION}

In lovely vintage condition, this jug features a two toned palette of creamy white and pale sand - the results of staining over time. There are no cracks or chips. The interior features some light grey stain spots on the bottom. Please see photos.
