{HISTORY}

It's not every day that a framed floral embroidery piece comes to the shop with initials attached. More often than not, there are no initials, no names, no references to the talented needleworker who embroidered their way to a beautiful image. But in this case, we are lucky to associate a set of initials with the needlework at hand.

The initials read BTB. Does it stand for Bethany Tyler Bell? How about Bonnie Theresa Brown? Or Barbara Tufton Burke? Or maybe Becca Tatiana Buchanan, Betsy Talulla Bancroft, or Betty Thomasina Berry? We could go on and on - but you get the idea.

Personalized just enough, this embroidery with those initials BTB was not whipped together on a sewing machine in a 10-minute hurry,  but instead patiently and carefully handstitched thread by thread to create a finished tree blooming with sentiments of motivation and encouragement.  

From the yellow butterfly in the top left corner all the way down to the green hilltop striped with pink and blue, the overall color palette of this wall art contains complementary cottage shades of pink, lemon, teal, lime, nutmeg, and aqua. While the quote is not attributed to anyone in particular, but more of a timeless manifesto to make the day a good one, the embroidery itself most likely dates to the 1960s-1970s era. While this is a now hard-to-find embroisery piece, we did find mention of a similiar pattern offered by Creative Home Crafts in Des Moines, Iowa in 1976 that was based on 17th century English embroidery. 

Framed in a simple turquoise-painted wood frame enhanced with smudges of gold paint, this blooming tree scene is stitched on ivory linen that has weathered beautifully over time. With just enough age spots to give it a lovely timeworn aesthetic that makes it appear as if it could have been embroidered in any decade of any century, the only thing that would have made it any sweeter is if BTB could have told us just a little bit more about herself.

{CONDITION}

In lovely vintage condition. The wood frame is strong and sturdy, and the glass is clear. The linen cloth contains several tea colored spots, which add to this embroidery's overall aged beauty. Please note that this wall art does not come ready to hang with hooks or hangers, but is ready to be propped against a wall or shelf.
