Vintage 1960's Vermont New Hampshire Tin Tray - Travel Souvenir - Black and Gold Travel Collectibles
We love the things we love for what they are. Robert Frost
{HISTORY}
Oh New England! With its beautiful farms, historic villages, and gorgeous natural landscapes ranging from the sea to the mountains it is hard not to fall in love with two of the Northeast's most picturesque states - Vermont and New Hampshire. This vintage tin serving tray from the 1960s captures the best of both worlds. Highlighting the unique attractions, the flora and fauna, and the noteworthy towns of each place this vintage travel souvenir is full of stories waiting to be rehashed and also to be discovered. A perfect conversationalist for cocktail time, it promises to enchant and enthrall the spirited hour where grand stories are born. Tucked between red clover and purple lilac are the highlights of each state. The mountains of Winooski, the coastal enclave of Portsmouth, the pillared capital buildings of Montpelier and Concord, the statues of Bennington and Twin Mountain, the shoes, the fish, the fruit...all the favorites are here ready to entertain.
As more and more people began traveling around the country during the mid-20th century, a rise in collectible travel souvenir items became popular. One of those most fun ones were these 1950's tin souvenir trays depicting each and every state in the U.S. This one even contains its original sales sticker, picked up at the Charleston West 76 truck stop in 1951 for the price of $1.98. How fun!
Appealing to jet-setters and road-trippers alike, these trays served as not only a nostalgic keepsake of a wonderful trip enjoyed but also a useful piece of kitchenware that was both fun and functional. Each tray was rimmed in gold and black and contained an outline of the state depicting popular cities, local attractions, and a colorful snippet of local flora or fauna. With such dramatic graphic appeal that offered a cohesive color scheme between each state, they made attractive wall decor when grouped together and provided a fun source of conversation while they served coffee or cocktails.
