Vintage 1960's Metal Serving Tray - State of Washington Travel Souvenir - Collectible Maps
Take nothing but memories, leave nothing but footprints. Chief Seattle
Dear Washington, you are a marvel. It's no wonder such a beautiful state would have such a colorful souvenir tray. From the depths of the Puget Sound to the tippy top of Mount Rainer, Washington State is full of dynamic people, places and adventures. We love it for its independent bookshops, cozy coffeehouses, commuter ferries, smoked salmon, snowy landscapes, wildlife sightings and the most wonderful farmer's market in the country, Pike Place. But it is so much more than all that too. Wild, rugged and wholly unique, travel it from one side of the state to the other and you'll encounter an array of fascinating stories. The types of stories that you can't wait to tell your friends about when you get back home. There was that chat with the old-timer at the microbrewery. That morning you saw a bear in the neighborhood. That day you hiked into the woods and saw an eagle, and a waterfall, and a moose all within minutes. Washington is full of surprises, big and small. This vintage serving tray will help you remember them all.
As more and more people began traveling around the country during the mid-20th century, a rise in collectible travel souvenir items became popular. One of the most fun ones were these metal souvenir trays made from the 1950's - 1970's depicting each and every state in the U.S. Appealing to jet-setters and road-trippers alike, they served as not only a nostalgic keepsake of a wonderful trip enjoyed, but also a useful piece of kitchenware that was both fun and functional. Each state tray contained an outline of the state depicting popular cities, local attractions and a colorful snippet of local flora or fauna. With such dramatic graphic appeal that offered a cohesive color scheme, they made attractive wall decor when grouped together and provided a fun source of conversation while also being helpful servers in the kitchen.

An absolutely lovely decor piece for cabins, cottages and all travel themed spaces, there is not a place in your home where this tray would not be appropriate from the entry hall to the back bedroom.
