Old age and the passage of time teach all things. Sophocles
{HISTORY}
Here she is! Known by her official name - Maid of Honor - this little gem of the vintage kitchen was just what you needed to keep track of time in the 1960's. Made by Robertshaw Controls Company in Lebanon, TN it is still in working condition with a reassuring tick, tick, tick that is soothing and melodic. Equally delightful, when time is up, her bell rings, bright and cheerful.
It's amazing to think that this petite timer has been working away in the kitchen for over 60 years and is still in such great shape. That's testament to the highly skilled craftsmanship and quality of the Robertshaw Controls Company, who was a leading manufacturer, originally ,in the thermostat business. In the early 1960's, they bought Lux Clock Manufacturing in Lebanon and started making an array of wall mounted, table-top and alarm clocks as well as kitchen timers.
With its soft white metal casing, turquoise typography and art deco style dial, this timer incorporates so much retro charm. It's fun to imagine all the cooking projects it has kept track of over the past six decades.
