BALLERINA LENDS ITSELF - BLENDS ITSELF - TO REFLECT YOUR WAY OF LIFE... (FROM A 1950S UNIVERSAL BALLERINA ADVERTISEMENT)

{HISTORY}

In the early 1950s, Universal Pottery introduced their Ballerina line - a graceful, elegant dishware collection that came in a variety of designer colors so that buyers could mix and match pieces with ease and confidence.  Available in shades of Chartreuse, Forest Green, Dove Gray, and Burgundy, these color combos ensured eye-catching combinations and their minimalist style ensured that they'd coordinate with other patterns no matter what the design.

Made in Cambridge, OH, the Ballerinas were effortlessly convenient in the kitchen with their ability to go straight from fridge to oven in one fell swoop thanks to Universal's patented glazing process. Due to that attention to detail, this dishware line has traveled the decades beautifully,  without much wear and tear or signs of age.

This Ballerina sugar bowl features a pink and white floral pattern that includes all the shades of the Ballerina line mentioned above - chartreuse, forest green, dove gray and burgundy. That matchable aesthetic made it an ideal serving piece to compliment multiple sets, whether you were collecting the rainbow of colors that the Ballerina line offered or you wanted to augment your solid shade collection with a floral piece or two. To get an idea of just how effortlessly this floral sugar bowl fits in, we photographed it with a Ballerina dinner plate in dove gray.

Now a hard-to-find floral pattern within the Universal Ballerina series, the blooms featured here on this sugar bowl look a bit like poppies and feature one contrasting flower in pink and the other in white. Flowers appear on both sides of the bowl and the lid as well.
