{HISTORY}

Soaring into midcentury kitchens on thermal winds from 1950s Japan, this set of vintage porcelain salad plates features a trio of black and grey birds floating and flying around a platinum striped rim. Are they seagulls havingg a day at the beach? Starlings dipping and diving for their dinnertime feast? Or are they a grouping of doves winging their way towards a pretty and peaceful meal?

Whichever scenario you'd like to imagine, these plates are lively and elegant and very much a dynamic design from the 1950s table. Known as the Capistand pattern by Trend, which is often misspelled as Capistrano, these birds have a lovely seaside vibe, like dishware you might find at an outdoor cafe In San Juan Capistrano, California or in the tree-topped mountains of Capistrano, Italy. Location aside, they also look great with vintage airline dinnerware and other travel-related restaurant and hotelware of similar colors and themes.

Minimalist styles have a lovely way of blending beautifully with other black, white, and grey dishware of both vintage and modern styles, but they also make eye-catching table setting displays when paired with pink cherry blossom patterns in spring and tree branch patterns in winter. All that conviviality in the kitchen makes this set of six an effortless, easy breezy addition to daily meals and special events celebrated throughout the year.
