Pyrex ware... the original, top quality, glass cookingware... (from a 1952 newspaper advertisement)

 {HISTORY}

Introduced in the 1940s during WWII, the fluted edge, scalloped-handled Pyrex Flavor-Saver Pie Dish made both dinner and dessert all the more delicious. With a deeper dish to hold in the juices and a fluted edge for flakier pie crusts, this kitchen pal was intended for fruit pies but it didn't take long for home cooks and the Pyrex marketing team to realize it could be used for a bevy of other oven-baked meals as well. From casseroles to saucy oven-roasted chicken to an assortment of baked desserts, the Flavor-Saver was a delight from day one.

While many were made with clear glass in the 1940s, this Pyrex pie dish was made in the 1950s, and comes in all-white... a universal shade guaranteed to match any and all of your other bakeware vintage or otherwise.  Available in 9" inch or 10" inch sizes and economically priced at less than $1.00 each, these dishes became such valuable helpers in the kitchen that many home cooks purchased them in multiples to make meal prep a breeze 365 days a year.

In absolutely gorgeous condition, it's fun to think about what sorts of magic this piece of bakeware helped whip together in the kitchen. Once a classic - always a classic, especially when it comes to Pyrex.
