THE NAME PRISCILLA MEANS RESPECTFUL. IN PARTICULAR, RESPECTFUL OF AGE, WISDOM, AND/OR CHARACTER. IN OTHER WORDS A PERFECT Moniker FOR 73-YEAR-OLD DISHES.

{HISTORY}

Made in 1950 by Homer Laughlin in West Virginia for the Household Institute, this sugar bowl and creamer set features the Priscilla pattern in the Republic shape. With a scalloped edge, a gold rim, delicate embossing, and a series of pretty florals, this pattern was once part of a grocery store incentive program helping shoppers build their patterns one piece at a time over the course of the store's promotional period.

Today you might assume that dishes that were a part of such discount programs might be cheaply made or mass-produced in a million different pieces. Not so. At least when it comes to this Homer Laughlin pattern and its Household Institute seal.

In order to be a part of the Household Institute incentive program, dishes had to be top quality, indicative of current tastes and trends, and attractive in design in order to keep shoppers coming back for more.

Priscilla fit the bill on all fronts and became one of Household Institute's most popular patterns.

.Containing a colorful array of flowers, this set is a beauty for tea time, dessert time and shelf display making it an effortless choice.

{CONDITION}

In gorgeous vintage condition. This set contains no chips or cracks. The floral pattern is bright, crisp, and clear on both pieces. The lid on the sugar bowl is removable. The gold detailing around each rim is bright and shiny with no worn spots or rubbing. Both pieces contain beautiful light crazing. The creamer has some light staining on the bottom interior and a little dimple near the rim. This dimple is not a chip but an actual dimple that was impressed into the clay by accident before firing and was completely glazed over. A lovely reminder that these pieces were handmade. Please see photos.

{SIZE}

The sugar bowl measures 6.5" inches (length handle to handle) x 6" inches (width at widest part) x 3.75" inches (height with lid)

The creamer measures 5.25" inches (length spout to handle) x 5"inches (width at widest part) x 3" inches (height)

Together this set weighs 1.3 lbs.
